A Tribute

To North Face Nuptse Boots:

Yesterday I walked home in a serious snowstorm. I saw like, no one outside, no cars, no people on the streets. Very few at least. It was desolate. And cold. My face was really, really cold. Normally I think anyone who wears a balaclava is insane but I kinda wished I had one. And my jeans were soaked through when I got home and my quads were freezing. It was a cold walk. Into the snow. Uphill. Both ways ;).

Normally, my hands and feet are pretty cold, but in this snowstorm, these boots kept my feet so toasty warm I almost could not believe it. That's because there's DOWN inside the boots!!! Woohoo!! And they're cute too. Thank you, North Face!

I am a huge fan of North Face. I've got three different jackets (including a heavy-duty double layer ski jacket thing), a polar fleece, gloves (which are THE best).

It also helps I live near a factory outlet store...where I know some people who work there... NF is expensive!! :-(

I don't buy their hats or scarves because I knit my own scarves (lime green baby alpaca all the way) and I have a crazy orange hat that I've had for years.

Those boots look toasty! I myself have a sweet pair of merril boots that have served me well in the arctic (aka SLAC).

NorthFace is a canadian company. it gets cold up here, so you can count on us for getting the boots right.

You just made me want to get those. I live in New England, yet do not own a pair of snow boots.

Too bad they're $120.....though I am in love with the white/grey version of these.

Weird how I'll spend twice that much on a pair of heels but have trouble biting the bullet on something practical.

Hmmm... I've spent some time out in the snow these past few days, tromping after my kids. I had to wear my rain boots, because they were the only waterproof pair I have, and they are severely lacking in a lining of any sort. I may have to test these babies out, if this weekend was any indication of the winter to come.

Eugenie, maybe I'll get myself some NF gloves then because I kinda need a warm pair.

SM - I totally believe Canadians will make super warm stuff. It's flippin' cold up there.

JLK - I highly recommend. I think I paid full price for mine and I am happy about it. But yes, I know I'd totally drop $80 on some whimsical heels but these boots took serious deliberation!

Grumpy - waterproof != warm! I seriously love how warm these can be - I have some gore-tex waterproof boots but they're not warm, so I actually prefer these which are only water-resistant but they still work great for winter tromping. :)

Oh yeah - and these boots are LIGHT.

I definitely just bought these in white for 40% off. They'll have to sit until next winter (hopefully) but I'm still wicked excited!
